Policy Recommendations: Youth for Sustainable Development and Resource Waste Reduction
We are proud to present a comprehensive policy recommendation document developed as part of the Our Food Our Future project. Its aim is to reduce resource waste – particularly food waste – and to empower young people in shaping local sustainability policies.
The document was created through the collaboration of youth, educators, and institutions from Poland, Greece, and Italy, and is based on research findings, discussion panels, artistic initiatives, and joint community-based actions.
📌 Among the key proposals are: • Integrating topics such as circular economy and waste reduction into school curricula,
• Establishing youth climate councils,
• Developing digital tools and apps that support food waste prevention,
• Creating motivational systems for eco-friendly behaviors,
• Supporting youth-led startups and grassroots initiatives,
• Fostering cooperation with local producers, community kitchens, and aid organizations.
The recommendations also include organizing a roundtable discussion involving youth, local authorities, and experts, with the goal of implementing joint actions for a greener and more just future.
📄 The document was co-authored by Michela Maglione – Fridays for Future activist, Anestis Karamitros – agriculturist, Irini Gavriilidou – agricultural engineer, and Konrad Pluciński – certified Kaizen Coach, in cooperation with Associazione Culturale Usamborgia (Italy), Wytwórnia Inicjatyw Twórczych (Poland), and Enogreece (Greece).
