Fact Checking Academy

From September 23 to October 4, 2023, the ‘Fact-Checking Academy, or How to Deal with False Information’ took place. Thanks to cooperation, workshops for youth on the topic of fake news, credible information sources, and fact-checking were conducted.

The “Fact-Checking Academy” is particularly important due to the growing problem of false information appearing on the Internet, which leads to confusion and often misleads readers.

The workshops were divided into three parts. In the fake news section, participants learned which elements to pay attention to when reading media information to avoid being deceived by false information. They also learned about tools that make verifying photos or videos online easier.

During the sessions on credible information sources, sources from Poland and the United States were presented that are reliable and trustworthy. Together with the participants, a map of credible information sources was created, which will be made available at the end of the project on our website.

In the last part about fact-checking, the history of this movement was presented, with special emphasis on its beginnings in the United States.
