Julia Woronowicz
A visual artist, painter, and performer (under the name Pola Nuda), she lives and works in Warsaw. In 2020, she earned her Master’s degree from the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and in 2023, she completed her Master’s degree at the Faculty of Intermedia in Poznań at the University of the Arts Poznań (UAP). She was awarded an Honorable Mention, the CSW Łaźnia Award, and the Critics’ Award in the Best Diplomas of the Academy of Fine Arts 2023 competition. She is the winner of the triple Special Prize in the 43rd Maria Dokowicz Competition in 2023. She was also a finalist in the 2023 Strabag Kunstforum painting competition and the 2023 Bielska Jesień competition. In 2021, she won the Artistic Journey of Hestia competition and received a Special Prize.
She paints Polish mythology (both ancient and futuristic), presents history from a non-male perspective, and creates objects and monuments of non-human beings (from the oldest land plants to dumplings with amber). She uses alternative versions of reality and appropriates other people’s childhood stories.
